2010 March 20 ASB Calçotada & Wine Tasting
Ready to stuff yourself with those irresistible grilled calçots?
We will be heartily celebrating this month one of our favorite annual Catalan traditions – the Calçotada! We all had a wonderful time last year with a cultural visit to an olive oil museum located on the site of a 13th century farmhouse in Les Borges Blanques followed by the traditional feast.
This year we are headed to the lovely medieval village of Montblanc…
We start off our day trip by meeting in front of the Hard Rock Cafe on Plaza Catalunya at 9:30am where we will hop on a private coach. Don’t be late!
We will be visiting the Clos Montblanc Bodegas - the largest producer in the DO Conca de Barbera. Once a co-operative, the bodega was bought some years ago by one of its members. They still buy the bulk of their grapes but they also own some vineyards from which they produce their top Cuvees. The tour of the wine making facilities will then be topped off with a wine tasting – of course!
After touring the bodega & being temped with their wines there will be time to visit the wine shop before heading off to lunch at El Molí de Mallol which is situated on the site of a 19th century water-run gypsum mill.
Included in the cost of the trip are:
- transportation by private coach
- entry fee and guided tour of Clos Montblanc Bodegas
- wine tasting
- the delicious calçotada feast
- A special gift of Clos Montblanc wine for each attendee!

Once we’ve had our fill we’ll hop back on our private coach and head home; we expect to arrive again in Barcelona between 18:00 and 19:00.
